In continuation of my Despatch No. 384 of

the 29th. ultimo, I have now the honour to transmit the signed copy of the Petition of Chinese inhabitants against the New

Water Ordinance.

An examination of the 'ehops' and signatures

attached to the Petition shows that the Petition has been practically unanimously supported by the principal Landowners, Merchants, Traders and Shopkeepers among the Chinese Community.
